Child Therapy

Our Stillwater child therapists understand how crucial your child’s development is, and how peer, parental, and school pressures can affect it. TF-CBT is an evidence based therapy for youth who have experienced a traumatic event – many therapists are trained in this model.

    Karna received her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2006. She completed post graduate course work in marriage and family therapy at Adler Graduate School in 2009. Karna has been licensed through the state of Minnesota as a marriage and family therapist since November 2012 and licensed through the state of Wisconsin as a marriage and family therapist since May 2013. Karna enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. She has experience working in outpatient, in-home, and assisted living settings. She utilizes a strengths-based approach while utilizing client-centered, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral strategies.

    Ed received his Master’s in Community Counseling from St. Cloud State University in 1990, and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1987.  He received his Minnesota Psychology Licensure in 1994.  He has experience with family therapy, couples counseling, child and adolescent therapy, solution focused therapy, and child trauma.  Areas of clinical interest are trauma assessment, pre-marital/marital therapy with couples having or desiring children, family therapy, and adolescent issues.  He has significant experience with program development and supporting the professional growth of staff.

    Kathy completed her Master’s in Counseling and Psychological Services and a Certificate Program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University of MN. She is licensed as a marriage and family therapist in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Kathy enjoys working with individuals, couples, families and adolescents, with some of her areas of clinical interest described below. In addition to her clinical practice, she oversees the Community Services Division at Family Innovations, including the delivery of mental health services to youth and families through Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS), and Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARHMS) across the Twin Cities area.

    Chris completed his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 2012. He has been licensed through the state of Minnesota as a marriage and family therapist since September 2014. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, families and adolescents, including children as young as age eight. Chris utilizes a relational, interactive and experiential approach and has experience working in an in-home setting providing systemic family therapy. Chris appreciates the opportunity to work with people on a variety of issues.
