Drew Nelson
LPCC, LADCDrew completed his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He also earned his Graduate Certificate in Addiction Studies, and is dually licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor through the state of Minnesota. Drew has experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who struggle with both mental and chemical health. Before completing his master’s degree, Drew worked as a mental health counselor in group homes for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. While in graduate school, Drew gained experience providing both individual and group therapy to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. He then worked as a mental health practitioner on an Assertive Community Treatment team to serve individuals with varying needs throughout Washington County.
Drew uses an integrative style drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused and strengths-based techniques, as well as existential approaches to facilitate growth within his clients. He views therapy as a safe place for individuals to explore and process their lived experiences and seeks to provide a warm and accepting environment in which to support his clients in achieving their goals.
