Now Offering Predoctoral Practicum
About the offering –
Family Innovations is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of providers and serves a diverse group of clients throughout various programs (Outpatient Therapy and Psychological Assessment; Children’s Therapeutic Supports and Services (CTSS); Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS), Intensive Treatment in Foster Care; Early Childhood; Medication Management). The predoctoral practicum will be offered at select locations throughout the Twin Cities. The focus of this practicum is a combination of therapy and assessment. Students will have the opportunity to shadow providers, gaining exposure to different assessment tools (e.g., ADOS-2, WAIS/WISC, MMPI-2) and therapy modalities (e.g., TF-CBT, non-adherent DBT, EMDR).
Early childhood program (birth through five years old); General outpatient services (six and up)
Length of Practicum:
9-12-months. We offer flexibility in scheduling; however, we expect at least a 20 hour per week commitment.
One hour of individual supervision per week is provided by a designated supervisor. Testing consultation group is held once a month and a multidisciplinary consultation group is held twice a month at each location. Practicum students may also participate in additional consultation groups in other satellite offices, as well as observe other service areas provided by other clinicians, as deemed appropriate and available during their hours on site.
Students will gain experience in conducting diagnostic assessments, providing individual, couples, and family therapy, and supervised psychological assessments. In addition, there may be opportunities for students to co-facilitate group therapy. These opportunities may include both in-person or virtual services.
Practicum placements are available in the Outpatient Therapy Program. Current practicum site locations include Eden Prairie and Brooklyn Park.
Practicum placements begin in September. Applications for the 2021-2022 training year will be due January of 2021. Interviews will take place in February 2021.
