Family Innovations, Inc. offers a clinical internship/practicum within our community-based program. This internship/practicum experience is for students pursuing a master’s degree in a mental health related field. We offer an internship/practicum from June – May annually, and two-six month internship options, one starting in January, with the other in June; these options coincide with requirements of various graduate school programs requirements for internships. Family Innovations’ internship experience provides you with opportunities to shadow Mental Health Practitioners providing home based services and, to a more limited extent, Mental Health Professionals providing out-patient services and diagnostic assessments. Students will also get the opportunity to carry a small case load of their own home-based clients when they have proven some competency and willingness to provide services to the clients we serve. We provide significant supervision which meets requirements for many school programs. An internship/practicum student is required to attend monthly home-based staff meetings, which include case consultation, and also represent the agency at various resource fairs and community events to increase their knowledge of the field of mental health.
Please note: Since schools have different requirements to satisfy the internship/practicum portion of their programs, please contact your program administrator to find out if Family Innovations’ internship/practicum experience will fulfill those requirements.
The deadline for students interested in our January internship/practicum is October 1st, as interviews are scheduled in October. Students interested in either of the June starts should submit an application by March 1st, as these interviews will take place in mid-March.
