Individual Counseling

Seeking counseling is an important step in an individual’s life, but one which may improve life more significantly than almost any other action. Therapists are trained to help individuals understand themselves more accurately, assess their current situation and relationships, and set a path for personal growth and/or healing. In a safe and confidential setting, clients are free to process issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, destructive addictions to substances or pornography, eating disorders, past trauma, and a host of other concerns. Family Counseling Services and Family Therapy

    Clinical Supervisor & Therapist - Anoka

    John is a Minnesota Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He joined Family Innovations in 2008 and currently provides both out-patient counseling services in the Anoka office and serves as a clinical supervisor for a team of home-based mental health practitioners. John earned his Bachelor's Degree from Bethel University and his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. He has completed Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training and often utilizes TF-CBT to help individuals who have experienced trauma. He also draws from years of Play Therapy experience, which is often helpful for younger children to express and process their experiences; he is currently pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).  John utilizes strength-based, solution-focused and narrative approaches to therapy.

She has been licensed with the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy since 2006. Sarah is an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s University of MN in the Marriage and Family program. Her courses focusing on teaching Play Therapy, working with children and their families, and trauma recovery for children. Sarah enjoys working with individuals, children, adolescents and families. She has extensive experience with children and Play Therapy. She is a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor and has served on the Board of Directors on the MN Association of Play Therapy.
